Residential
Guayacán, Reserva Conchal, Guanacaste
A two-storey residence on a premium lot in Reserva Conchal, defined by three curved teak roof forms, a horizon-edge pool with a sunken circular conversation lounge to the west, and two upper-level bridges connecting bedroom volumes and a casita rooftop terrace.
Tres Velas — Three Sails — occupies one of the premium lots in Reserva Conchal, with views over Conchal beach and the headland of Punta Sabana. The name comes from the roof: three separate curved forms, clad in slatted teak, that follow the same arc above each volume of the house.
Arrival is through a gap between the garage and the casita, across stepping stones over a shallow reflecting pool with a trickle wall. A large pivot door set in a glass wall opens into a double-height living space with an unobstructed view to the ocean. An internal bridge spans the void overhead, connecting the upper bedroom volumes on either side. At the same level, a second bridge extends from the upper floor to a rooftop terrace on top of the casita, sheltered by a trellis roof. The main pool runs the full width of the terrace, its edge aligned with the ocean horizon. To the west side, a circular conversation lounge is sunken into the pool so that its rim sits at water level. Exterior walls are finished in travertine, laid in alternating regular and irregular courses.
